What your gifts have done
Our impact
Since our first basket in late 2023, given in memory of John Aydin, we have partnered with five hospitals and placed dozens of baskets in the hands of grieving mothers.
What the numbers mean
16 baskets is 16 mothers who went home with lanolin and ice packs instead of a list of things to buy. It is 16 printed guides explaining what happens when milk comes in after a loss, something most of these women were never told. It is 16 candles kept on through long nights, and 16 letters that say, in writing, you are not alone.
We began at the end of 2023 with a single basket, delivered to the hospital where John Aydin was born. Within seven months we had found homes for eleven. Today we supply 5 hospitals across New Jersey and New York, and every one of those baskets was paid for by someone who read a post, heard a story, or simply decided a stranger should not grieve alone.
We know the need is far larger than 16. In the United States roughly one in every 175 births is a stillbirth, and every one of those mothers goes through a postpartum recovery. Our goal is simple and enormous: a basket for every one of them, at every hospital.

In their words
Some of the mothers who have received a basket have written to us afterward. With their permission, here is some of what they said.
“Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and kindness of your care package and support. You have no idea how much it means to me and how helpful it has been.”
“Going through the process I wasn't even prepared for postpartum changes or even having a period. I didn't even have pads at home or think to get them. Your basket helped me in every way. Especially the candle. It was exactly what I needed more than anything. It touched my heart and it helped to make me feel not alone through the process.”
“I received one of the Baskets of Healing that was so generously provided to me during my hospital stay after losing my son at 23 weeks. I can't say enough how thoughtful the gesture was. I am so appreciative to have received such kindness during the absolute worst time of my life.”

Moments along the way
We have been surprised again and again by the timing of this work: a blanket that arrived two days early for the mother who needed it, a thank-you text that landed at the exact moment we were reading about the candle. Jessica wrote about several of these in Synchronicities.
Help us reach the next mother
$250 fills a complete basket. Any amount brings us closer to the next one.
